New research by independent ratings agency, Chant West, shows that UniSuper’s performance across a range of areas puts it amongst the best in Australia.

UniSuper is officially one of Australia's top 10 super funds.

New research by independent ratings agency, Chant West, shows that the fund's performance across a range of areas puts it amongst the best in Australia.

"To be a Top 10-rated fund, it must be strong in all of the key areas we assess – organisational strengths, investments, fees, insurance (for super members), administration and member services," said Chant West Principal Warren Chant.  "It's the total package funds offer that results in them scoring highly."

Strong long-term investment returns combined with competitive fees is the winning combination that ultimately provides members with more for their retirement, and Chant West's report shows that UniSuper's performance is amongst the best for both.

UniSuper’s investment returns over the past year, three years and seven years for the Balanced Option (UniSuper’s default option) all did better than the personal super fund median.  Retirees are also well-catered for, with UniSuper’s pension outperforming the pension fund median.

And UniSuper’s fees for both personal super and pensions were lower than most of its competitors.

The report also made particular mention of the Fund’s high-quality online calculators and online seminars and tutorials, an important part of the education service that UniSuper offers its members.

"UniSuper is here to deliver greater retirement outcomes for members.  We always endeavour to make sure our members enjoy great value, excellent service and relevant product choice," said UniSuper Chief Executive Officer, Terry McCredden.

"Chant West’s latest ratings give our members an independent judgement of our performance.  They can be confident that they're with a top-rated fund and that we are working towards maintaining this leading position."
