In celebration of International Women's Day, UOW researcher, Pamela Abuodha, from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, presented a guest lecture at a 'Sisters on the Planet' film screening held in Wollongong last night (8 March).
The film screening was conducted by Sustainable Illawarra at Wollongong City Council and Oxfam. Participants viewed a compilation of short films of inspiration, hope and the power of people to bring about positive action in the face of climate change.
The 'Sisters of the Planet' films featured women from across the globe who shared their stories about how climate change was affecting their communities and how they are leading positive action to create a more sustainable future.
Pamela, an expert in assessing the susceptibility of coastlines to climate change, spoke on the effects of climate change on coastal degradation.
Other guest speakers were Irina Bruckner, an artist originally from Kazakhstan, and Lindley Berrie who is passionate about sustainable living and an active member of the local BushCare program.
